I'm sure this has been asked many, many times but I couldn't find anything. I borrowed Rise of Nations from a friend and tried copying it using Nero. During direct copy it continusly had "unrecoverable errors". I'm assuming this is because of the copyright. Any programs or ideas I can use to crack this?

    P.S.
I've used Nero to copy PS2 games many times and I have never had a problem.

PS2 games are no where near as complicated as pc protection games. Theres alot invovled in backing up a PC game.

Ill give you links to go to to get started

You need A-Ray Scanner v2.0.2.0 to determin the copy protection in the game.

    http://www.aray-software.com/index.php?s=36e2f7220779b4aef71b86e6326721b6&showforum=7

You also need a program that can beat the copy protection to be able to make a backup

    Alcohol 120% (my fav)

    BlindWrite Version: 5.2.9

If your still interested let me know and we will get you going.

select Image making wizard/ read speed at 4x/ Datatype: Safedisc 2/3 and hit next and let er rip, once the image is done dumping which may take awhile and you will get alot of disc read errors which is normal, you can right click on the image when its done and select Image burning wizard/ select Next/ Write speed at 4x/ Datatype: Safedisc 2/3 and let er burn.

Any more Questions feel free to ask.

    Hey there!

I'm really having problems with pretty much all ea games programs. Whenever I start it, it the symbol comes up...the game starts (the monitor goes black) until a few seconds later its restarting!

I was able to successfully make an image of the game...but also when I mount the game into Daemon Tools it restarts.

What am I doing wrong?! I guess I am not correctly getting by the SafeDisk protection! Maybe its also because of the fact that the last game was SafeDisk 2,9 protected and that is very complex to backup...although I've read many people posting a successful result backing up SD 2,9 protected games!

    Please help me!

    New Info!

Ok, so now its not the CD image I made that's causing the problem: even with the original CD it restarts!

That's happend so far also with "Fußball Manager 2004" and "Fußball Manager 2005" (sport series from EA Sports)

Why do all of these crash even with the original CD and they work on my brother's PC?!

    Hey there,
I have some problems, too. First: How can I make a virtual device from Alcohol 120 % 1.9.2.1705??? I am not able to make one, no way (almost)...
Second: How can I skip the errors in a protected disc in a faster way? It takes me about 40 minutes for the process to complete. I have seen it taking 3-4 minutes to skip the errors in some friends' PCs...
    Thanx

It depends on your PC, but make sure "Fast skip errors" is checked.

    1. find out what copy protection it is(via A-Ray scanner or Clony XXL)
    2. (optionally) thereafter Alchoholer start, which adjusts itself to the previous scan results of Clony XXL (only with Clony XXL!...thus not with A-Ray!)
    3. after alchohol 120% starts click "CD image Making Wizard"
    4. if necessary, select the copy protection at the bottom left hand corner labeled "DATA type" and adjust settings to the copy protection you have.

If you used Alcholer, (which follows Clony XXL again) you must click "alchoholer" in that drop down list. Or you can customize ur settings.

Only important thing with copy-protected CDs, is that you at a low speed the CD reads (2x-8x), so that the CD is accurately read.
    5. Save the file anywhere on ur harddrive and let it rip! (you will see that errors constantly come up: THIS IS NORMAL!! Sometime around the 10,000 mark the errors will stop and it should faster go.)

If you successfully made the image and want to burn it:
    1. start Alchohol 120%
    2. Go on "CD Burning Wizard"
    3. Click on the desired image
    4. Do not forget to burn at low speed here as well (depending on your burner, I burn at around 8x: see for yourself what works best for you!)
    5. Let it rip!
