Hey all, long time reader, first time poster (yes yes, cliche, i know :))

I am trying to create a dvd from a pal video file. I followed the divx/xvid to dvd guide I found here on the forums, but when I gave it a try, the video was all messed up, rolling picture, crazy stuff on screen. Now, I've never tried playing a PAL source on my TV, but I'm guessing that is what happens. So I guess my question is, what can I do to get this playing on my tv?

The video file is at the PAL fps of 25. If I select NTSC in TMPGenc when I encode it, is it going to come out alright, since NTSC is a higher fps?

    Thanks in advance

It should come out OK because TMPGEnc basically doubles up on some frames to fill in the gaps (that's the short explanation).

However, be aware that you may have issues with the sound becoming out of sync in the process.

Here's some articles from videohelp.com on converting between PAL & NTSC:
