    Hello All

I am an absolute noob at this, so please forgive my naivety.

I would like to create a mkv, from many of my avi files that I have on my PC.

So far I know that MKV is a sort of container file, and you need to add the video source and the audio source to create the file. (Please correct me if I am wrong)

I would just like to get started creating these, so any advice on programs etc would be great.

And I was also wondering how I create a better audio source from the avi's that I have, and what is the best audio source to create, ie AAC, AC3 etc..

Thanks in advance for helping a noob become a non-noob :D
