I wish to extract some sound tracks from a VCD. The mpegav files have the name 'AVSEQ + number.dat. I assume I need to convert these into .cda files, but have no idea how.

    Suggestions appreciated.

Extract them with VCDGear from the CD to MPEG-1 files and then demux them into separate audio and video using TMPGEnc's MPEG Tools. You end up having .m1v and .mp2 files -- .m1v is the video and .mp2 (yes, two, not three) is the audio. Then simply convert .mp2 to WAV and use some decent CD burner like Nero to create Audio CD from the .wav file.
