    Hello,
I am in need of a DAC that converts a Coaxial SPDIF signal to 5.1 Analog audio. I don't want to pay big bucks for a converter box either so I assume that I can do my own custom circuit box with the right parts. Now all I need is the appropriate schematic to get started.

Since SPDIF to 5.1 Analog DAC's are few and far between, I'm sure that this may be very useful to others besides me.

    Thanks in Advance.

What type of signal are we talking about here - PCM? Dolby Digital? DTS?
If it's PCM, you will be limited to 24/48 of course, as there is insufficient bandwidth in SP-DIF for anything higher, unless it is Quadraphonic.
I'd recommend looking up a suitable chip on Google.
You'll need the DAC as well as a suitable Op-Amp, and any required decoder circuitry as well.
Lots of luck - it is almost certainly easier to go out & simply buy a reciever.....this is, after all, a High Resolution Audio forum and not a DIY Electronic Products one.
