I recently bought a Cyberhome DVD recorder and I am having all sorts of problems with it. I am just trying to record stuff off of TV. I can see what is on the screen and I can hear what is on the screen. I record something and it plays back just fine but I have no sound at all.

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? I emailed Cyberhome but haven't received an answer from them.

It is a 1600. The thing is, it seems like it is all hooked up correctly because I can watch tv through it and I get sound and when I set it up to record something and I chose the source, it shows me a picture and gives me the sound, it just doesn't play the sound when I play what I recorded back on the machine.

On the advice of a friend, I bought a CyberHome 1600 (at Best Buy for $113.00). To echo some of you, I wish I had seen this forum first. The thing worked fine for a couple of weeks as I happily moved shows from my TiVo to (Memorex) DVD+Rs. Then one night, I paused the recorder and it refused to UNpause. I finally had to unplug it. Of course, the disc was useless. Pausing and unpausing has been a dicey issue ever since.

Sometimes the recorder deems a formatted disc with content on it "unknown". If I'm lucky, it'll recognize it again after a while. Just tonight, after recording five hours worth of shows, the recorder crapped out 6% into finalizing the disc. When it finally loaded the disc a half hour later, it wouldn't go into edit mode so that I could try finalizing it again. My regular player can't read it, natch.

At least this time, I knew NOT to delete anything off the TiVo until I had a finalized, tested disc, but this is bullshit. I know that my issues aren't as complicated or nightmarish as most of the problems mentioned here, but at the end of the day, none of us have what this product promised us: Successfully recorded DVDs.

It's too late to return mine and I don't want to go through the hassle and expense of trying to get CyberHome to fix it. I'm just going to cut my losses and get a Sony.

    Thanks for letting me vent!

I have had the recording problem. When in recording mode it appears to record but when the dvd is played back it is snow. I believe the tuner doesn't work. That is the main problem that I am having with the Cyberhome DvD 1500. I am sorry I have been away for the thread for awhile. Has anyone solved this problem yet?

I purchased the recorder about 2 years ago and it was a piece from the get-go. It couldn't keep the time. It would err out every few DVD's during recording. It would shut off 30 minutes into the recording about every half-dozen times or so. The other day it just stopped working. Cyberhome is a piece of crap. DON'T BUY THIS CRAPPY PRODUCT !!!

    Hi to all.

I need help.I am having problem with cyberhome 300 dvd player. I was just testing the remote control and it's features. I click the SET UP button, then VIDEO. in VIDEO feature there's the NTSC/PAL/AUTOMATIC selection. I hit accidentally the AUTOMATIC and presto! Everything on the tv screen is gone. No video no audio. What will I do? A pro local technician told me to just bring this matter to cyberhome service center but I'm from the philippines (pls. forgive my english)and this unit is just a gift from my sister in the U.S.

Have you tried unplugging the unit from the electrical power for a few minutes to see if it will reset on it's own?

Try this... not sure if it will help, but it can't hurt....

Open and close the drawer with no disc inside.
Press and hold the STOP button on the player for 5 seconds.
See if that resets the output.

    Let us know.

If holding the STOP button for five seconds does not work, try it again, holding the button for about 30 seconds.

Cyberhome DVD 1600 is Trash - Utter Trash -

I bought two both died with in 2 months or less of purchase. Can not recogize any DVD (commerical or made with unit). Cyberhome Home page pretty and non-effective. The request email address: support@cyberhome.com comes back a permanent error. Finally, got an email through by SALES@cyberhome.com.

Buy one at your own risk

I also have the lockup problem and have to turn the unit off to get my disc out and then I can't get the disc to work again. Has anybody done the firmware upgrade? I don't have Nero or Roxio on my comp so I don't know if I can upgrade successfully or not. Has anyone successfully upgraded the 1200MU? I'm afraid I'll make a worse mess of it at least now it plays DVD's. I can't believe the bugs this thing has. BTW this was an impulse buy. Carol
