couple a questions, i know there pretty simular but which (daemontools or alcohol) is better for mounting images and what is the advantages of mounting an image to play a game over a straight .exe directory replace??
if you have to no cd crack a mounted game n e way then whats the difference?

Either one are tops for mounting images. I prefer Daemon Tools myself but to each his own.

Mounting an image allows you play the image without having to tamper with it by installing a crack. I prefer to leave my images unaltered.

I don't see any point in mounting a cracked game.

The answer is Doom 3 m8. Before Doom 3, sure the "no cd patch" was the better option, however, we at Afterdawn stress that you try and make a working backup (with or without the aid of emulation). Virtual stelath drives come in quite handy obviously as we need not insert a "physical" backup in a rom. :)

I apologise initially for my lack of knowledge, but can some reply in simple terms what this software does exactly. I've been told I can use DVD Decrypter to back up a DVD then mount the ISO by using Daemon Tools????? Just can't understand why I need to mount this, so to speak.

I will eventually be converting the image into a DVD package so a DVD can be played on a Pocket PC.

This may sound weird, but, i use both.
I love Alcohol 120% because i can have enough drives to keep ALL of my cds mounted at the same time, unlike Dameon which limits you to 5 drives if i remember right.

But, Alcohol doesn't work with R4R (DivX/XviD creation tool, its part of Gordian Knot), if i can get Alcohol 120% to work with Robot4Rip, then bye bye Daemon :).

You don't need to mount anything to a virtual drive if you don't want.

It's there just either watch a dvd or play games without the original disc.
