i have video cds with the videos saved in the mpegav file as dat video. i can only get the videos to play using mpegplayer and only if i change the codec from mode 0 to mode 1. on any other player the video looks scrambled.

i've tried converting back to mpeg(vcdgear, mpegtool, etc), copying the videos to my drive, but the result is the same-they only work on mpegplayer which is shareware.

windows media player should play the files but mine wont. i checked the files supported and dat is not listed-and i've updated.

does anyone have any ideas? are the cds protected? how can i convert the videos back to mpeg? why would they only work on one player?

please email me if you have any ideas-thanks
