And can I do it by dragging the file onto a usb key (memory stick) and putting this in the back of my machine?

Sorry disregard my message about usb key..
I followed these instructions by doing a factory default reset and then switching off the box.
I then went to menu installation and scanned for channels under both enteeL and coarus. It appears to scan through for around 20 seconds and then I get the same message'Info no channels found'. The screen then jumps automatically to the manual scan screen.

The cable is going straight from the wall into the box. It's an analogue feed.
The only issue I can think of is that its a shared house I live in where we are not actually paying for the n t l. It's just coming through from the wall, I don't know if the landlord is paying for it or not. I know its n t l though cos we pick up the same channels as you do with that provider ie setanta ireland etc.
Could this make a difference? I know of people in the same position and it makes no difference to their cable box.
It just seems I'm following all the instructions I've been given on here and by the people who sold me the box and I'm not picking up any channels at all. Can't really find anyone in the same boat on any of the forums I've looked at.

It's definitely not n t l digital I have anyway.. does this mean the box won't work?! I was told you only needed analogue?! that could be 150 euro down the drain.
where should the coaxial be plugged into?

Cable Input socket at the rear, but you need digital.

Are you sure you need digital? is that just with the starview 4 or something?
I know a good few lads have analogue with other boxes and it works fine...

Well give it a go and see how you get on, do a Factory re-set and then installation, choose your provider CH***S N*L or whatever, and automatic scan. That way you will soon know, best of luck anyway.

I've done all that and it doesn't work. Would be strangely a relief to find out for definite if the analogue is my problem, as I'm sick to death of the thing at this stage. At least I could cut my losses and try and sell on the box.
Definitely know of someone with a eurovox and a starview 3 working it off an analogue feed though so not sure why the starview 4 would be different.
    Does anyone know for definite?

Agree with what you say, if the EV and SV3 work then the SV4 should!!!!!! but I am sure that scOuser will eventually give you a definative answer when he see's your post.

If you have analogue it wont work, you need digital in your area.

Thanks noely, that's a couple of days of my life wasted anyway!Looks like I got bad info.
Seems to make sense that you'd need digital, but I was told by two friends that their boxes (one a eurovox, one either a starview 3 or 4 he's not sure) work perfectly despite only having an analogue feed coming into their house.
One guy cancelled his digital once he got the box and just lets the analogue feed come in now.
Do you just need the digital to be in your area or do you need to actually have N** digital coming into your house before using your box?

Hi shandon, as malci said, you`re better off waiting till sc0user, or fergus are around for a definite answer.
If you have a live (cable) feed in your house & digital in your area it should work. Wait till the lads are around & you`ll be sorted :)

can you tell me what area you are in

if you are on CH**** you need to find out exactly what box your mates have

is it possible that the feed you have coming in is connected to a mast somewhere

if so there boxes are MMDS ones

If you are capable of getting digital in your area but only subscribe to analogue then the feed you get in will carry both analogue and digital signals. In which case you need only subscribe to analogue and still use your dodgy box to get the digital.

However for some reason in dublin U*C at the moment it is cheaper to subscribe to the basic digital package than for analogue alone. This is worth doing since they will have to ensure your current coax is good enough for digital. And you have a second digi box for another room, or you can use it to check your feed if your dodgy box goes down. i.e. plug it in and see if it a software issue or C/C issue.

I updated a starview "the box" today and I could not get it to autoupdate, tried the BBC1 & discovery instructions. Just put the keys in manually in the end.
