The key is to make sure that your pc and box are on the same network in general this means that the first 3 parts of the ip address are the same on both ie nnn.nnn.n. and the last digit is different but less than 254

Dont autoconfig you local area connection but set it static.

The cross-over cable allows you to make a connection without a router/hub by connecting direct.

The quickest change you can make is to set your pc lan connection ip to 192.168.123.23 gw 192.168.123.24 subnet 255.255.255.0

You should be able to connect then.

Just a quick recap on ftp tcpip etc.
1 get the ip address of your dbox (settings\network)
lets say 192.168.1.23 for example
2 get any files you need from the net onto your pc:

3 On PC, open up your network connections and disable wireless if you have it and make a note of all tcpip settings for all network cards for setting back
4 plug in cross over cable to both ethernet ports pc to dbox
5 change the tcpip settings of your ethernet adapter as follows
turn of dchp and give it static details something like below
ipaddress 192.168.1.22
gateway 192.168.1.23
subnet 255.255.255.0
The important part is to put your pc and dbox on the same subnet. In our example the import part is making sure that they both are on 192.168.1.
Setting the gateway of your pc to the ip of the dbox just makes it easier
Start your ftp client of choice and ftp to 192.168.1.23 (the ip address you noted in point 1)
For my dbox the user was root and the password was blank, other possible passwords: dbox, dbox2, root
Hopefully your ftp client will connect and display the directory structure of your dbox. If you cant make a connection and you have checked all the ip settings make sure that your firewall allows you to connect out by ftp (port 21)
I usually download the file from the dbox to my pc before overwtiting it with the new one just in case my new one makes it worse
restart your dbox and if your changes have worked reset the pc back to the oricinal settings.
Then, on Dbox, update nagra and softcam as per Hytrus's images:

I am eventually getting somewhere....I followed comis01 advice and the step by step ftp guide that he gave the link to was invaluable

So....I was able link the PC to the DB ...and I was able to overwrite the Chorus keylist.txt with the keylist posted by blissirl on page 115 of the thread

In anticipation I connected the DB back to the TV but alas..still no joy...I have picture and soound on 101 Euronews. Press the blue button on the remote selected the Evocamd emu and restarted...still not working

I do not think that I am that far away from ending this marathon...just about see the finishing line...
I would be eternally indebted to anybody that might give me some assistance....I am at this the whole weekend

ya just nagra 7 active and disable the rest and change the cam to EVOCAM make sure u reboot the box

i must have asked 7 times on this thread for a guide to how to activate/deactivate nagra roms and i am still awaiting replies !!

Unfortunately I am still at a loss....i have trawled through all the settings and do not see nagra 7 mention anywhere .When I open the blue panel I set it to Evocamd 2.14 and press restart the cam button. I do not understand where to "nagra7 active and disable the rest" option is.

I can not apologise enuff for my sluggishness in getting this sorted...but if you could perservere I would be grateful...

For anybody who doesnt have the enable/disable roms options on their box just FTP into the keys folder and delete anything to do with roms 3,10 and 11.

 

just change it to EVOCAM and reboot then make sure just Nagra rom 7 is the only one enabled disable the rest

 

Not all images have this option plus I'm guessing some of the posts here are refering to dreambox's which again AFAIK do not have the rom options.

Well still here trying to get up and running...I have FTP'd to the keys folder as suggested by wiz569 but can not see any roms info.

What do I try next?....I cannot be that far away from cracking this...after spending the whole weekend trying to figure this out I am at my wits end
