not to sound stupid but just checking does this keep the channels in order but just updates the missing ones.

What do you think keep/leave current in the bouquet line is good for?

To fix your dbox channels from any tv channel press dbox then service menu then service scan and put it on update existing and turn off fast scan and select your cable provider, scan and wait and your done. they're working again without changing the order.

If you select update and the scan fails you will lose all bouquets.

lads, i thought it was not safe to do a rescan. i thought by doing this you would lose existing channels altogether. it takes me so long to sort problems out that i don't want to take a risk of losing all.
    has anyone tried rescaning yet??

    cheers

Simply choose leave current in the bouquet line.
All channels which are found get an update if necessary, new channels landing in others and nobody touch channels of your bouquets which are not found from the scan.

Some images have the cables.xml in the subdirectory share/tuxbox.
If you find a cable.xml there replace it.

I tried this but the only cable provider I can select is Kable deutschland. N*l doesn't come up.

I tried two different cable.xml files that were for n*l but cable providers selection never changed. When I deleted the scan.conf file the only option I had was kable deutsch.

that happened my nannys one before with sportster pro. you have to see if theres a new service file and bouqets file or reflash with a different image.

    @Daveyie84
You have to replace the cables.xml in the right subdirectory.
Some images have the file in var/tuxbox/config and some in share/tuxbox.
If you ftp to the dbox you are landing inside the var directory.

That's what I was doing wrong, I got the n*l options now. Thanks for your help.

Another question if I did a scan now and lost all my channels (worst case scenario), would I be able to get them back by using my backup service file?

Thats the reason i wrote to select leave current in the bouquet line.
A successfull scan create a new services.xml. The bouquets are gone after a failed scan with the wrong option.
You can always upload services.xml and bouquets.xml to var/tuxbox/config/zapit if you want. You have to reboot the dbox after that.

hi guys...im a complete newbie to the dreambx...not a clue!my fellas boss has asked me to "fix" his box so no pressure!when i plug the box in it says there are no transponders and the provider list has bsk#yb but i think he got it from germany on the net so maybe set for uk ...i already have a null modem cable and a checked emo's library but dont know what a nic card is and was worried the info was only relevant to the uk....so can someone tell me what my first step is...im in dublin.he also informs me that he wants this to run on his s#y not cable...is that possible?
