All you need to do is to check the network config in the MS dashboard, ie set to DHCP and note the MAC address, and in the router you should have set the DHCP scope and entered a Static DHCP Lease for the xbox MAC for an IP address of your choice. Finally, in XBMC, check the network settings, you should set it to DHCP..

Ok, I'll try that but if I remember correctly, it used to work fine under automatic.

I actually swapped back to my stock HD and it worked. Then I screwed it up by going to the default dashboard and trying to connect to Live. So I'm working on fixing that. So close yet so far.

Ok, I got it to connect to the internet. While doing so I:
    Broke 2 IDE cables
-1 snapped when pulling it off the motherboard
-the other had the soldering broke off of the pin where the HDD LED connected to.
The HDD Power is now loose.
The stock HDD file system (My backup HD) is corrupted.

So besides all of that trouble, I got it to work with the following:
IP never worked as automatic, no matter what I did so:
    I set it manually to:
    IP 192.168.1.18
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
    DNS Server 192.168.1.1

So I honestly have no idea why it didn't like me doing automatic settings but it does work now, directly connected to the router. Now I'm going to try to update XBMC without screwing up more stuff.

One step forward, 4 steps back I guess...
