I have lived by ddp's list of scanners for years and years and I'm looking for an update because They failed me. I ran a program new to me called Malwarebytes and it found some entries and removed my problem.

The old list from 2005 is in this thread.

ddp If you read this please post an updated list of what you are using these days.

    Thank you so much

my advice is use sandboxie or returnil when you surf the internet and you will never get your hard drive infected.

    my security setup
    1. zone alarm firewall
    2. avira free antivirus
    3. firefox browser
    4. sandboxie or returnil (both free)

virtual/sandbox type software is the only 100 percent way of keeping you PC clean. In 3 years that I have use this type of setup, I have never been compromised.

Usually your antivirus will warn you about a suspect file but if somethings slips through your defenses, it won't make through a virtual/sandbox unless you let it.

Do you not use malwarebytes at all ?
I have found it to be really useful running after combofix to pick up strays

interesting comparison of a PROFESSIONALS security recommendations compared to a blatant amateur.. avira is hopeless antivirus.. came below nortton even in last years testing.. and that's an achievement.. ClamWIN came top (clamav for numptys)

and some crap to guarantee you back up your already corrupted system..

All I can add.. yup.. malwarebytes.. very good.. BUT .. you want to keep microcrap garbage safe on the internet?.. ONLY use it offline.. that's the ONLY way to secure the trash.

Sorry to drag you back here ddp But I had to thank you again,
Your system has helped me my family and fiends for years.
This system would save people major money and problems if they just looked for it.
I don't see how so many people find the need for places like geek squad when there's an Afterdawn.Thank you everyone
