Dead hard drive what can i do

Is my xbox gone or can it be restored i was just getting ready to mod it no the hard drive makes no noise at all i put my ear to it and cant even hear it spinning?
any ideas?

only think i can suggest is to open it up and make sure all the HDD connections are tight. Other then that you may have to have it repaired. Or possible a mod chip installed so you can swap HDD's
