I have Windows Me with an external hard drive that I am ripping to. While ripping with decryter the read speed varies from 5x to 0x with pauses. It took 2 hours to rip Bourne Supremacy! The buffer fills up to 100% then empties and pauses. I am using a Plextor 712a. I have read hours of similar issues In these forums but have not found a solution. Help!

I also receive an error message Wnaspi32.dll when plextools loads (the software for the 712a drive.

I don't know if this is related.

I suspect that with an external drive the problem is that you don't have the high speed USB 2.0 ports. I tried a hp 360e drive on 1.1 ports and had the same effect. Hope you saved your reciept ;-)
