hey all. ive come across a whole load of original windows cds with one small problem... they all know when im not installing them onto a dell. The windows XP SP2 disc i found is the only one that doesnt care what computer its being installed to. Does anyone know of anyway i can make these discs work on any computer and not just a dell
Prior to XP sp2, Dell was using proprietary OS disks now they use them only when installing at the factory and put a ghost image on their comps for a restore and if you want an operating sys disk you get the the original windows now. I am not sure if you can use those other Resource CD's because they do have proprietary Dell files such as drivers and are looking for your Dell ID number.
