In order to hear DTS sound, there has to be a DTS soundtrack on the DVD itself. When you come across one that does, go the the sound option on the DVD menu and select DTS. It will warn you first to make sure you have equipment that will decode this format then you click ok. Hit play and you're good to go.

One more thing and i come across this often.

Turn on your DVD player, press the "stop" button, then press the "set-up" button. This should bring you the the DVD players set-up menu. Now look under any type of "audio" tab or menu. Look for "DTS" and make sure it is set to "on". The Default for most players is set to "off".

Pretty stupid default if you ask me!
