    Hi all,

Just to begin, sorry for my english :)
Well I'm downloading an AVI file via utorrent and the partial file has just reached 30% of the total. I've tried to play a preview with VLC but couldn't: time cursor goes on the bar but there's no audio nor video and the total time is wrong (25h instead of a bit less than 2h).
I used both gspot and mediainfo to analyze the partial file and in both cases it appears to be an exe file. In particular this is what I got from mediainfo:
Referring to this thread I guess that it's possible that an AVI file could be detected as an Executable one via a mediainfo's analyse so I can't be sure for now it's a fake AVI, can I?
So my question is: how is it possible to detect a malware/virus file hidden under an AVI one before downloading it? And how to detect it if mediainfo says it's an EXE but it's a genuine AVI before playing it when it's downloaded?

    Thank you in advance,
    cheers.
