Hi, Does anyone have a solution, such as a firmware update for this drive? It rips at only 2.5Kb/s and thats the reason why i got it...Even if it is able to use a firmware from another brand, please help!!!
It comes up as DVD 16X in device manager...Please help!

No, its set to dma in the OS (Win2k) and the Bios...I was under the inpression that all drives were limited to 2.4Kb rip speeds, thus the need for a firmware hack?

OK, you lost me with the whole "Kb/s" thing. Normally it's stated as "X". Chalk it up to being tired.

Most burners are capped at 2X however most ROMs aren't capped and will read up to around 14X or so. Of course there are always exceptions.

There are firmware hacks aplenty for burners and crippled ROMs. The first step will be to identify who actually makes your drive and then google around for hacks.
