I figured out my problem. Damn Viper case was not sitting properly that's why my discs won't spin. Also, one of the wires was touching another point. All is well and full size dvd-r is working great with the cover off until I get a new Viper case

Media: Verbatim 8x (burned at 8)
S/W: Nero 7 wit latest patch
    Burner: Pioneer 110

    Works good...

I must agree on the documentation it is incredibly poor.

Orginally when I installed the viper chip I was unable to get the Viper screen up and it kept booting to the GC screen.

    Things to check:
    - Make sure you have turned both dip switched on the USB connector to OFF (This is providing you are using the Extreme Viper)
    - Make sure all wires are soldered properly and that they are not touching any other solder points other than the one they are supposed to (This happened to me.)
    - It may be better for you to remove the HS, if you do it very carefully you should have no problems. Plus make sure the yellow wire is not touching the HS as the HS is conductive and can cause problems.

    Hope this information helps.

    Please let us all know.

It was the Red wire touching another pin. I never knew there was a Viper screen. That's were I wasn't sure what to look for. Now I know :)

All is well. Mario Sunshine is working and my pot was originally at 215.

    Thanks for your post.

I guess we can't backup games to a PC until the new flash comes out?

I tried using the Cobra v1.2 install with the USB connect to transfer original media to an ISO on the PC. I could not get it to transfer.

Any info anywhere else on this?

The info on this site to not give any clues.

I think we have to wait for a USB transfer program. I think the current program only works with parallel.

    Anyone know for sure?

I ordered my Viper-Extreme and it has not come in yet. I was planning on using GCOM 2.2 or GCOS 1.5. Have you guys tried any of these BIOS? maybe it is just the Cobra v1.2 that has this problem.

I myself have not tried the GCOM 2.2 or GCOS 1.5 due to the fact that... I could not find them on the net... lol

I would be willing to try them if i had them i suppose. The Cobra v1.2 only has this problem because it is not yet compatible with the Viper Extremes functions. It still allows playing of DVD-R backups.

If I was pointed in the direction of these two BIOS files then I would try them.

Let us know if using GCOM 2.2 or GCOS 1.5 works better with Viper-Extreme?

Tested all BIOS's and here are my finding's

GCOS would work for some of the functions but not all and would not boot many games (booted only 6/10).

GCOM played funny tricks and would not allow much to work

Cobra works for all backups I have tried but does not allow any other function to work.

    Conclusion:
As the Extreme is new it is really beggining to show in it's capaibilities through the BIOS. Obviously this is only a minor set back as it is for certain that a dedicated BIOS will be released in the near future. My personal preference is the Cobra BIOS as it run everything I threw at it (except for the built in functions).

    Final Choice:
NON as each and every one does not work to it's potential.
