I noticed that the interface is the 6.3.1.4, is that it? I am using TDK media that is recommneded by I/O Magig for its burner. Should I reinstall the OEM version out of the cd that came with my HD?
I had terrible luck burning the files out of Nero manually, Nero shows the files as 6.0 Gigs as oppose to 4.2 gigs, it also took Nero 6 hours to transcode the files out of DVD Shrink folder.

    Hi goido
No I won't install the oem version. Stick with the version you have.

The interface is just that - the gui that you see/use with Nero - that's okay.

For the TDK - they're ok. I don't know about I/O Magic but some other drives list which media is compatible at what rated burn speed and format. Usually Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim are listed in these categories. Good ones to use.

    Recorder: <ATAPI DVD DD 2X16X4X16> Version: G7V9
Update the firmware - the latest is G7Z9.

    File 'Drivers\CDRALW2K.SYS':
Roxio and Nero don't always play well. So you can unisntall Roxio and run the Zap Tool.

Still fails - try burning at 4x.

For the 6 hour bit - which app in Nero did you use Recode or Vision? If you used Vision will take awhile but even 6 seems kinda excessive. I guessing you have decent pc spec w/ 1.5 gig of ram.

For files from Shrink use Recode but Shrink should have compressed them enuf to fit on a single layer disc.
What was the size of the output folder from Shrink?

Thanks for your response,I have burned several movies with Memorex DVD R with no problem with the OEM vesion of Nero and DVD Shrink, all the sudden I got this error so I upgraded Nero and now nothing works. I don't think I got Roxio installed on my computer, I have Interactual player installed even though I usually use Nero to watch my movies. For the recode I used Nero Express with the make your own dvd function, DVD Shrink shows the files as 4.220 megs, Explorer shows the properties of the movie folder as 4.3 gigs but Nero imports the files at 6.0 gigs!!!It gaves an error as the movie being to big, I only selected 3 out of the 5 files in the folder and when I went to burn it took Nero an hour to create menus and transcode the files and 5 hours and 30 minutes to burn the DVD. So basically I went from less than 2 hours from reauthoring and autoburn in DVD Shrink to burning a partial movie in 7 hours!!!

Ah ok - you're using Vision Express - no need to use that app in Nero for this. Will increase the file size also depending on many menus and such you added.
Vision is better used for converting avi's, wmv's etc.

Use Express to burn the folder from Shrink. No transcoding involved - will just burn the file.

Also you can set Shrink to autoburn - version 6.6.0.18 is the last version of Nero 6 that will autoburn w/ shrink.

Just pick the dvd burner when you click backup under select backup target.

Thank you Binkie! I looked at Nero and the one that opens with the desktop shortcut, is the digital Nero that transcodes the files and takes forever( Make your own DVD ), I opened Nero Express from the programs menu and I burned my DVD succesfully out of the folder that DVD Shrink left. I checked DVD Shrink and my DVD burner is listed as the back up target...I think, I will try another movie. What about the DVD that had the writer error is this dvd a toaster? Or it simply did not burn in.I was reading in the dvd manual that they recommend ripping the movie first with DVD Decripter first and then using DVD Shrink, as oppose to ripping it with the built in decoder in DVD Shrink. Is this true?

    You're welcome goido:)

Yeah the disc is a toaster/coaster. Toss it. Then again you may be able to use it for next year's xmas decorations :)

Since Shrink is no longer updated to handle the newer copy protections yep it's better to rip 1st then open the files in Shrink. But Decrypter is no longer updated either so needs help too.

Another free ripper that's still updated is dvfab decrypter. You can rip w/ that then open the files in Shrink.

Or there's RipIt4Me which gives Shrink and Decrypter the help they need for the newer ones. Here's a guide.
