Digital audio output

    Does anyone use a fibre optic cable for the audio and component rgb for video. if you do then let me know if its all ok because i waant to set my dbox up the same way.

    I use a fibre optic cable connected to my denon amp it sounds ok to me but dont forget the best you can get is dpl 2 as i have not seen any channel broadcasting in dolby digital.I hope this helps

    Your provider might not send a digital audio signal to you, mine doesnt

    The audio tracks for digital channels are being broadcast in digital format.
    AC3 with DD5.1 is only offered from BBC HD. For all other channels you get only PCM data via the optical output. Thats normal stereo.

    can you get an amplifier to mimic 5.1 from the pcm signal,just to get sound to comefrom all the speakers?
