I have a CD-RW drive in my computer. There are several users of the computer, but i don't want anybody else than me to be able to use the CD-RW drive.

Is there a way i can achieve this?

Is it possible to make windows disable the drive for some windows user profiles (i use Windows 98 SE)?

    Hiya,

Under Win98SE it is a MAJOR HASSLE trying to do what you want (Win98SE has NO security worth speaking of - too easy to hit ESC or CTRL-ALT-DEL to byapss it).

Under 2000 or XP it is a lot easier ;)

    Sorry to disappoint..

    Byeeeee..

With W2k, goto the administrative tools and then local security policy and then mess around with the rules there.

if you dont/cant/wont upgrade the OS then one thing that MIGHT work and is free is to goto device manager and disable the device whenever you are done using the comp :p Assuming the rest of the members arent technically savvy they might not be able to figure that was just disabled heehee.
