    Hiya,

There are 6 main standards (types) of DVD:

1 - DVD-ROM (the commercial pressed disks you buy)
2 - DVD-R (writable that follows the "minus" standard)
    3 - DVD-RW (re-writable that follows the "minus" standard)
4 - DVD+R (writable that follows the "plus" standard)
    5 - DVD+RW (re-writable that follows the "plus" standard)
    6 - DVD-RAM (re-writable that follows the DVD-RAM standard)

Most MODERN players will accept -R and +R media.
Quite a few will accept -RW and +RW media.
Some will only accept -R and -RW media.
Some will only accept +R and +RW media.

Of the older players (especially those made by Big Names) most will only accept -R media.

ALL will accept DVD-ROM media (unless they are faulty, of course).

Have a look at this site to check the player compatability:

    Hi there
    I used DVD-R discs.
As it seemed the most compatable.
    Regards
