My internet connection is disconnecting when I'm not using it and is becoming a pain when downloading files. It is a new PC and I'm newly installed on broadband. I have checked some settings any ideas?

    Thanks

Check the power settings for the network card. Make sure to uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device"
To get to the power settings, right click my computer>properties. Click on Hardware and go to device manager. Expand the Network Cards, and right click on your network card and go to properties. There should be a tab marked Power Management. This is where you would change the power settings.
