I have successfully been burning dvds and for the past week or so, most, but not all of the movies that i have tried to back up give me this message after burning them. I use anydvd in the back ground and have tried both clone and shrink. One was Hoodwinked and one was an older movie, 10 things I hate about you. So I dont think it is the encryption. I have a tsst burner and have tried to see if there is a new firmware version out there and can not find one. There is no way to booktype this either. I use verbatims and Ty's for my media. Any clue as to why all of a sudden i would have this message?

    thread teleported to relevant forum.

    - burner is only being detected generically so burns will be hit and miss (mostly miss)

I understand that, but when i downloaded the nero update last night, and tried the burn this am, and the version, when i check it shows to be the updated one. I am sure this is confusing...but none the less , this is what it shows....i will be more than happy to try another burn and see what it shows now...if you would like
One thing Gwen pointed out lastnight was that it shows a successfull burn, but the message comes up when trying to play it

OK, so according to your log file the burn was successful
    but

now that is something completely different..you say the message comes up when you try to play it, what is the EXACT message and what are you playing the finished DVD with.

This could and probably DOES imply that your standalone player doesnt like the format of the disc, it may be PAL whereas it needs to be NTSC or vice versa. It may be that your player doesnt play AVI files or something like that.

the exact message is "Disk with an unsupported format is in Drive E" and up untill 3 days ago, no problem burnig. Have burned almost 800 dvds with little problems using CLone, anydvd and shrink. I have dvd decrpter and dvd fab but dont use them as often. I am using my laptop to play them back but they will not play on my stand alone either. I have not changed media but it is possible that i amy have inadvertly changed a setting in nero or shirink or decrypter. I was looking to change booktype. And to make sure my firmware was up to date...which there is no new firmware out so couldnt change that. The first sign of problems were non susscessful burns...about 3 followed by a couple of good ones then a few bad and one more successful one and now...all are bad....Hope this infor helps
