I'm a bit of a newbie to this and have just learnt how to convert my DivX movies to dvd thanks to the guides on this site. They are working perfectly but I was wondering if there is any way you can convert the audio on these files so they will come through a surround sound system. I checked the file and it says audio format is mpeg 1 layer 3. Is it only ac3 audio that will play in surround sound? If so can this mpeg be converted to ac3?

use avi2dvd and 192kps is 2.1 and 384kps i think is 5.1 ac3, the app is free and can use CCE as the encoder, or has 4 of its own i recommend useing HCEnc as its a good all rounder!

also film machine does the same and is free...
