Hi, I have copied a couple of Divx movies onto a DVDR and it plays fine. Is it possible to create a top menu through which i can select the specific movie right at the beginning? Also can I prepare a chapter list menu like the DVDs to enable me to go to the specific chapter without browsing through the whole movie. Thanks in advance.

Sure it is possible, DivX is MPEG4 and the mp4 container supports menu's and other advanced interactive content. Problem is that GPAC is about the only project that supports creating and playing back such content.

Well for mkv you have DVDMenuXtractor, which when is finished can extract a DVD menu ready to be recreated by mkvmerge and played back via haali's splitter. Not sure how you would go about creating a custom menu or creating/playing back anything right now. I guess though that it may get mplayer support which would in turn mean menu support on XBMC, then again maybe not.
