I recently rented "Signs" and "Eye for an Eye" and neither of them would play in my DVD player (Samsung DVD-511). The manager of the store said that she did not know why, but a lot of her customers were having the same problem and all of the discs that wouldn't play were gold. Can anyone explain what is happening? Is there a new format that makes old DVD players obsolite?

Thats strange, perhaps the woman at the store should find out where these are coming from! They could be the wrong region or something!

I didn’t think to ask about that. Hollywood Video is a national chain; I would think that they would be more careful about what they rent. I’ll check that out. We tried the movies on two different players (same make and model) and got the same results.
