Top right of any post you make you will see an edit button beside link to message. And yes you need to take off your email addy

No problem crazy. At the top of the screen, beneath the afterdawn logo, in the yellow bar, click on the private messages link.

Same procedure as for firmware update. Connect your starview box to the pc/laptop, start up gtrom loader program. Click on the BIN file button, but instead of the firmware file, select the channel dump file.
Below that, make sure you put the dot next to Channel Data File, then press Download.

 

eamo i have heard that the channel dump will only work if the person that sends it to you has to live in the same area and must be on the same freq because i went in to download it and it wont download

 

There is a difference in the UK alright, but as far as I know, n*l in Ireland is the same all over. Channel dump is from Dublin. Maybe it's been corrupted by all the transfers between different operating systems on my computers.

 

more bad news eamo,my starview is down to 2 channels now,can i ask you something,the system info on mine reads api ver 2.75 boot ver 7.0 16 aug 2006,now i have the box about a month and a half,bought it new,i havent flashed anything up on it at all yet,is the ver 2.75 i have the firmware ver that yous have up on after dawn.com and yes from the pics ive compared here it seems to be a clone i have.

 

Hi I can not get flashed as when I open the programme SKYMAX I get back on the PC "Parallel ports could not be opened" yet I know they are open as I have tried it on another device I have checked and double checked that all connections are correct I dont know what to do from here to enable me to read and flash the Starview can any body help Even using the oringinal method not Skymax it comes back with the incorrect code in the field not 7FE0000 but 7FF000; any body know what this means and can give a simple answer?

 

car19, SKYMAX is for using with a jtag cable, to revive a dead clone box.
To put firmware on your sv, you need to use gtrom loader. Go to the link at the end of this post. There you can get a good setup guide, and all the software you need. You will need a null modem cable for this.
If you have a clone use firmware Version 2.57 With Auto Roll! If you have a genuine, use v4.00

Make sure you download the correct firmware
Don't use clone firmware on genuine, and vice versa
