hey, is this hitmanPro like spysweeper? Or different?

 

it's good to hear something worked for you.

 

Hitman pro downloaded like 8 antydspyware programs and slowed my computer way down

and i already had half of the programs they were downloading

 

all it does is download other programs and run them?

 

Hi, I need some advice please. I regularly scan my pc, I use CW Shredder, Ad aware, Spy Bot Search and Destroy, AVG Anti virus and also have Zone Alarm firewall installed. I recently installed 'hijack this' after reading lots of positive reviews about it on various sites. Only problem is, I'm not sure what to fix or what not to, and I'm a little worried to just 'fix' all the things 'hijack this' found, in case I delete important files. Here is a copy of my log, could you please tell me if I have anything to worry about with any of the stuff it found? It would be very much appreciated. Thank you. If you need help with a hijack this log, start your own thread, describe your symptoms and post your log in it. THat way somebody that can work with your problem can help you and will not have to work the effort of keeping up several trains of thought and posters names in one thread. If you look in the threads below, I think you will see that the no answer you have experienced comes more from your needs for help being buried in this huge thread, rather than no one available to help you.

My apologies bc, as I'm not used to posting on forums I wasn't sure if starting a new thread, discussing a problem that many seem to have in this thread would be the right thing to do. And as I saw everyone elses postings I thought it would be ok to also post here myself.

ok you need to try 2 more things:
you should backup your registry if you feel you might mess up something.

first go to Start -> Run then type regedit and press OK
browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run
after clicking on the Run folder you will see some keys on the right hand side. Delete all of them except for Windows Defender and ccApp.
Restart your computer.

second download and scan with this http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/us/frt/0?prd=asf
if it doesn't find anything try rebooting and pressing F5 while the computer is loading and select safe mode and scan in safe mode.

also did you try going Tools -> Internet Options and checking what URL is there for the homepage?

 

Followed your instructions and AVG did find a few cookies...deleted them and restarted. Was hoping to be able to change my homepage, but it is still grayed out. The site set to the homepage is www.freewebportals.com.

No, it is not the homepage I want. I cannot change it due to it being grayed out and on the bottom of the sub-screen, it states that, "Some settings are managed by your system administrator".

I found out I have a trojan. bjhg and a trojan.bb2t. I have AT&T security suite. It has disabled itself twice in 6 months. The trojans are quarenteened now and I'm afraid if I delete the files I will delete something important on my system. One day I had 53GBs and the next day I had less than 1 GB left. Is that caused by the trojans and how do I get the GBs back again. I hope someone can help because I don't know too much about computersand this one is driving me crazy. Thanks, Vixter49
