Do you think Xbox will come out with something like the PSP or Nintendo DS???

A few years back i heard about MS makeing a handheld but it was stupid in a way it was, well the rumor said it was going to be called the Xboy but i dont think that will ever happen but i do think a handheld might be a good idea

 

I would make a portable the same size and shape as a controller. That way you could still hold the thing and press/move all the buttons/sticks with no problem. The analog stick on the PSP drives me crazy - I can't drive the car in Twisted Metal to save my life. It works a little better in Street Showdown.

The PSP looks cool and does some cool stuff - but the thing is all buttons. You can't pick it up without hitting at least one button.

I can see a bunch of guys playing [bold]Halo 2.5[/bold] in a room, all hooked up wirelessly (say Bluetooth), screaming at each other (chat without a headset), and creating bloody havoc Spartan style. Could be the next generation LAN party.

 

Hummm did someone say that microsoft needs to recover from debt, that was funny. You do know that Microsoft can prob overthrough our government or even end world hunger! saying microsoft is in any kind of debt is like saying the world is flat its just not true. Microsoft will brob someday be part of our government, well have little soldiers in green jump suits on every corner with big M's on their backs with laser guns or something. (or maybe they will be the ones to create the light saber) If I am not mistaken they made all their money back from their x-box dump just buy making halo and halo 2...

 

Hey newbie, yeah i said the debt thing. It doesnot take a genious to figure out that microsoft is not in debt as an overall company but then again i figured you would know that we are talking about the video gaming industry here. Hello????? And yes they did pick up a lot of debt from the x box as a video gaming company.

 

Microsoft did actually make a profit this year on the xbox...so far anyway

That is exactly why they are not going to try to make a handheld unit any time soon or maybe not ever. They still need to work on gaining more ground in profits in the home console competition with sony. Seeing the side by side comparisons of the new systems side by side doesnot exactly lean in Microsoft favor to help them gain ground or overtake sony's dominance in the video gaming industry. With the PS3 being well capable of producing anything that the xbox 360 can produce with its hardware, it may be only a matter of time before someone comes up with an emulator (just like the ones that allow us to play nes, snes, genesis, gameboy, psx, neo geo, etc..) on a different console system like the ps2 is capable of right now.
If someone ever where to put the research into making a emulator that would allow X box 360 and Nintendo's next-gen system games on the more powerful PS3, i am sure it would hurt those companies astoundingly b/c there console would then be needed at all.
But as I said again Microsoft main concern is increasing its number of gamers right, so that they can overtake sony. They tried to buy out nintendo to help them in their quest for the number one spot but nintendo did not want their money. I guess the saying is true that money can not buy you everything.

 

Honestly i would love for an emulator to be developed b/c i would love to have access to some of the Xbox exclusives but more than those title i would love to be able to play nintendos exclusives metroid and the always dominant rpg series in zelda.

 

What about Xbox Live - is that making profits for Big Brother? Does Sony have online gaming at the level of Xbox Live? I have never owned a Playstation. I started on Sega systems, then jumped to Xbox and Gamecube.

I guess I'm going to be torn this year - buy a 360 or PS3?? I'd say both, but I think the price tags on these are going to be high.

If I were M/S I would make last minute changes to the 360 to make it stand above the PS3. They still have time before the holiday launch of the product.

 

I think they should make one... i mean the more the better, each new console you get new features to add on to later on. It would be pretty cool...

 

microsoft might not have time to make the xbox more powerful than the PS3. The sony PS3 is new hardware that has been patented.

 

The system power is not what makes the system. The systems library of games is what has always determined the dominate console. Just look at the PS2 and Xbox. Xbox is more powerful but most of the consumers would rather have the huge library of games and exclusives not available to xbox owners.

 

the PS2 came out a year earlier then the xbox. most ppl in america cant buy 2 consoles. i got the dreamcast the xmass before the PS2 came out so i couldnt get a ps2, but i could get the xbox, got it the the fallowing xmass. and i will get the xbox360. i will wate untill next year to get it about the time the PS3 next year and hope it will be cheaper.

PS3 is not 2x's stronger then the xbox it cant be since the cell were made for running Laptops not consoles. just look at the 3 companies that made it 2 of them are laptop companies. and the Cell are better for playing movie not games.

the 360 will have about 50 games more then the PS3 comes out if not more. Why doesnt anyone deffend the revolution, it sucks no one wants to play 15 year old games.

And about the topic i think it will be a bad idea for MS handheld consoles are for Nintndo look at Sony they lose more money then they made.

Yeah, dominant my ass, zelda may be old, and I do love the damned game to death, but FF is the way better rpg IMO, because zelda for 1. is only been made 2 times each on a console, with snes being the exception

so IMO FF is better, and I own all of those games that are out (FF12 and the 3 FF7 remakes I will own too. (already preordered FF12)). My favorite game out of all of them has to be Tactics/Tactics Advance.

These debates just get annoying. I'm tired of arguing, so wooo, both systems win, microsoft is definitely not in debt whichever ... said that, and to Playstation fans- I DON'T CARE ABOUT HOW "SLEEK" A SYSTEM LOOKS.

the thing is,

Microsoft is so rich, they could make a system way better than the ps3, the Xbox 360 on steroids, LOL/ they have the money and technology to. If Microsoft loses money then they could make it up in the other areas even though they don't need to cuz they so rich, you can upgrade the processors on the xbox 360! dooeyy, sry. you shouldn't say the ps3 will be better until they are both out and tested.

 

yeah sure I think M$ will come out with an xbox handheld but i also think that you will need at least 4 friends to carry it one to hold the the generator to power it one to hold the console tv sized screen and two to hold the actual console.But hey it will have halo.
