Doesn't anyone use the guides before posting "how-to" questions?

    To Pete or Big Orange,

I have another quick question. I was planning to burn and vcd to a dvd and I was wondering if the steps to it would be the same as if you are burning dvd to dvd. Also I was wondering if there would be any noticable difference once the movie is convert to dvd or would it just be like the original vcd. Thanks again for all the help you guys.

Well I am no Pete or BigO, but here goes anyway. No the steps are not the same to convert a VCD/SVCD to a DVD compliant video. The simplest way I can tell you how to do this is to take a look at the guide at my website (link in signature) called <Convert AVI to DVD>
Also with any conversion no matter what it is there is always some quality loss, but will it be noticable? Well going from VCD to DVD is hard to say, but if it is a good quality VCD then you will probably not notice a difference in the picture.

    Hope that helped :)

    thietlong,

The files must be converted to Dvd compliant files before you can burn to Dvd. If your source is good quality then your copy should be good also.

before I recommend an app, does this VCD have just the movie files on it, or is it complete with menu and all?

Thanks bbmayo and big orange both for the helps. I will try out your method soon bbmayo once I get my hand on a vcd movie from my uncle. Also to big orange, most of the vcds that my uncle have has only the movie and no menu attached. Will this change how the encoding and burning proccess work? Thanks again you guys for all the helps.

Well, the reason I asked is if you only had movie only you might want to make a menu for it. And since you have Nero Ultra 6 you can use NeroVision Express to create a menu with chapters, etc. to use with your movie.

NVE 3 will convert the files, edit the files, create a menu, compress if needed, and burn to disc-ALL in ONE app. It also allows you to preview your finished product with a software remote control to see if everything works the way you want before you burn to disc. If you decide to change something you can go back and make any changes you wish, then burn to disc.

I have a simple easy to follow NVE 3 guide I wrote if you need it. It converts about every file there is to Dvd compliant, and for a program of this type is pretty easy to use. It also has some neat import features to customize your menu, including buttons, backgrounds, and even will do moving looped clips.

Just let me know if you decide to use it, I think you'll like it's results.

Love this program DVD decrypter, i successfully burned my first DVD using Nero. It took a while to decrypt the movie Incredibles (55 minutes), but hey it works and the quality is great. Thanks to all who posted guidelines for using the software.

    whatsnew1,

Any chance you could turn off your CAP key.

    1. It is against our forum's rules

    2. We consider it as shouting and therefore extremely rude :(

Finally, we use English on this site, Please try to comply.

As for films, Bit Torrent OR Limewire if for some reason you don't wish to use the links on that site to grab DVD's from. I saw 5 different sites right at the top of the page -

    Pete, Orange, or Mayo,

I have another quick question for you guys. Is it normal for a dvd that you just burned to play fine on the standalone dvd player and freezed while playing on the computer. The reason I am asking this is because I recently burn a dvd and it played fine on my apex player. However, when i took the same disc and played it on my laptop, some of the segments started freezing pretty bad, and the images also skipped. Thanks in advance for the help once more.

    thietlong,
The biggest problem with laptop DVD drives is that they are very picky on playing disk's. So it is even more important to get quality media if you plan on watching on your laptop. this should be one of your most important priorities anyway when backing up DVD's. It would be best to "Booktype" your media to allow it to be most compatable with any type of player.

Yes you could use just Shrink and Nero. Nero also has a setting for booktyping your DVD writer, but eventually you will need Decrypter for the newer encryptions out there because Shrink won't be able to crack those for you. :)

oh ok. Apologize for my lazyness (This thread is long lol), but which page should I look at for directions on how to burn the newer protected dvds onto a dvd (that need both dvd shrink and decrypter). I assume most dvd's that come out now get protection like this, so it would be vital to know..

I have the latest benQ dvd burner (DW125). It's sets the booktype to DVD-ROM right out of the box.

    rgr thanks.

    Last question :p

I just bought the burner so I'm unsure and still a noob. When burnin dvd to dvd copies, is the burnt quality never as good as the original (unlike burning music cds)? I'd like the quality to be the same.
