Doesn't anyone use the guides before posting "how-to" questions?

    CrueGuy, congrats!

Trust me, there are plenty who swear they followed the guide step by step and the software failed to make a working copy. Only to admit later they missed or misread a step. And they didn't have Dyslexia to blame it on. Glad you got it going.

Now maybe you can hang out and help some poor fellow burner who's having his share of problems. I'd bet even your girlfriend now knows how to make a perfect backup now :>)

Just wanted to say hi and let people know what a great resource this forum is for a DVD-RW newbie like myself.

It seems like yesterday when I was fumbling around trying to burn audio CD's from MP3's...I made alot of coasters. Now I enter a new realm of VOBS and stuff.

This usually means a bad disk (scratched or dirty)
Try cleaning the disk really really good.
Try ripping the movie with the newest version of Decrypter first. Decrypter is better at handeling problem disks.

Are we working under an alias now? I think you're gonna have to register so we'll know who we're dealing with from now on. LOL After 20 or so backups between the two of you, I think you deserve a AD membership :>)

It's just another copy protection method. Decrypter will insert "dummy" sectors in place of the "bad" sectors in order to complete a functioning rip. IOW, Decrypter is doing it's job :>)

Scuba pete's "www.dvdplusvideo.com/tuto" doesn't come up. I find his comments and advice not only interesting but invaluable also.
I am rarther concerned I'm now missing some of his wisdom.
ps. he is not related to me!

Hi all, We should have the link set now - sorry

    Mattdogg,

Sorry buddy - wasn't myself for the past few days -

    Slow, huh ?

Let's go to your Device manager, IDE and check our transfer to make sure it's in the DMA mode and not in the PIO mode.

If it's in the PIO mode, uninstall the drive, and reboot your PC to let your PC find the drive again and reset it to the DMA setting -

    Report back, OK ?

    You be da man - - -

    ScubaPete! HELP!

Ok. so i was using dvd shrink to burn my dvds and they burnt ok. some coasters.... and for some reason i can't burn from a burnt dvd.. wierd i know! HELP... well i HAD a 8x burner and now bought a 16x burner thinking THE SPEED, THE SPEED.. but it seems to be THE SAME slowww speed.. HELPPP... i wasn't really using dvd decrypter, just shrink.. but i'm going to try and do a dycrypter/shrink burn tonight.. but still its slower.. shouldn't it be faster now.. i read some people's comments on their 16x burners, and they say they burn their movies in 10 minutes MAXIMUM! mine takes hours. HELPP

I am a rookie to burning DVD's & have one question. I have Shrink, DVD Decrypter, & NERO 6. Right now, I am ripping with Shrink & burning with NERO & everything is great. Is it better to rip with Shrink & burn with DVD Decrypter instead of NERO? I have not really heard anyone say one way or the other. Maybe it's your own opinion, but I did not know if there were any negatives to burniong with NERO or DVD Decrypter.

Max12 I would recomend using just Shrink and decyrpter. Nero is good but nto as stable.

BUt I seem to have a problem of my own with Dcyrpter I am getting an I/O error which is much the same as the other reported on the board but at the bottom it doesn say Medium not formatted it says.

    "unrecoverd Read error"

the whole thing reads like this

    "I/O Error!

    Device:[1:0:0] NUDVDRW DDW-081 BX32 (D:) ATA

    ScsiStatus: 0x02
    Interpretation: Check Condition

    CDB: 28 00 00 16 11 A0 00 00 01 00
    Interpretation: Read (10)- Sector: 1446304

    Sense Area: 70 00 03 00 00 00 00 12 00 00 00 00 11 00 00 00 00 00 00 01 02 03 04 05 06 07
    Interpretation: Unrecoverd Read Error"

Now I tryed to reinstall my DVD Decyprper but no luck. I just bnought this Pc about 2 months ago and have plenty of room on my HD. I anaylzed my Hd with Defrag it said to do a defragement. But decided not to since my problem was different then the other one posted.

    So what should I do?

EDIT: I ran a firmwhere version check. This is what I got

Device: NU DVDRW DDW-081 Firmware version: BX32

now from what i could find I have the latest version but I am not 100% sure since I do not really no where to look.

Also I am making a copy so I am using the origanl disk that I paid for. So I don't think the problem is the media.
