I use DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter to burn my DVD's, and I use single layered DVD+R's. If I were to spend the extra cash and buy DVD+R DL's, would I get better quality considering I wouldn't have to compress the movie so much? Any help would be appreciated.

Yes you would since no compression would be needed - 1 to 1 copy.
Set Shrink to dvd-9 or rip w/ Decrypter then burn the .mds file w/ Decrypter or ImgBurn to a dual layer disc.
