I have the ipod touch 3G with 3.1.3 firmware (Mc model also). Im looking to jailbreak this, and the only way it seems possible to do this is to downgrade the firmware to 3.1.2. Ive downloaded the software, but the ipod in recovery mode, hit shit + restore button on itunes, select the 3.1.2 firmware file, but then it tells me the firmware is not compatible. Why is this? Can it be fixed? If not is there another way to jailbreak this?

Not sure if you still need an answer or not, but I've found that on the 3G MC versions of the iPod Touch you need to download the 3.1.2 firmware for 2nd gen. If that still doesn't work you'll need to change your iTunes version and still use the 2nd gen firmware. This has worked for me every single time...
