I took your advice and installed Firefox and Download Helper.
But it took 4 hours to download a 2 hour movie. Is that normal?
    Quick download wasn't much better.

If anyone can help, especially the original poster, that would be great. Here is a link to the page with the video on it that i would like to download...

    http://www.deucescracked.com/videos/897-Episode-One

From the mozilla site "page info" im seeing a link to the object.. http://www.deucescracked.com/swf/Echo.swf

i think this may just be a pointer? I downloaded this file and ran it through a hex editor but i didn't see a swf file and im uncertain how to use a hex editor anyhow. Looks like there may be an xml file too? Im not sure how this stuff works.

I do have a membership to the site where the video is.

    thanks

Hi guys, I too am having difficulty download embedded swf video. I'm using Firefox 3.5.6 in Fedora Linux, with NetVideoHunter, Download Helper, Flash Video Downloader but I can't download the file I want. I've tried the methods in the previous posts, but no luck. I've looked at the page source and I think I see the link to the file, but I haven't been able to make it work for me. The page I'm looking at is

    /url]

Can anyone help me with this please?

    many thanks
    robin

while that might offer a solution, previous encounters with Wine haven't really endeared me to it. I'd much rather a method i can use directly from linux

ATTN EVERYBODY: READ THE PAGES OF THIS THREAD WHICH ARE PRIOR TO YOUR POST.

I have helped everyone for as long as I could. I have shown all of my techniques (Real Player, Clipta, RMC, etc). If you have not tried these methods, TRY THEM. Then, if none of them work, post here your results. One of us will be more than happy to help.

    here it is:

RMC works fine. Make sure to clear your browser cache then press record BEFORE you go to the link. If it still doesn't record downgrade to a plugin from pre-Jan 2009.

    Hi,

There is a Flash .swf video that I can't find the way to download even with the ideas that I have read in this thread.

    The page is: http://www.oceanpowertechnologies.com/tech.htm

    and the flash video:

    http://www.oceanpowertechnologies.com/tech.swf

When I download the swf file I get a short 52kb file that does not contain the video, and if I open it with Notepad I don't see any clear reference to another URL or file.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    JBB

I don't know what fancy program you used to download that swf, FireFox and the "DownloadHelper" extension downloaded that FLV super fast. Anyone reading this thread, I don't know why don't they take as a fact, FireFox rocks with it's extensions/plug-ins.

    Here's that video:

    Thanks a lot Cyprusrom.

I tried with Google Chrome, with Iexplorer and with Flash Favorite... none of them with any success, it seems that FireFox is way ahead.

    Thanks again,
