CiDaemon - Thanks for continuing to look into this and for your replies. I've logged several hours (really pointless hours since I'm a newbie) trying to crack this mystery and snag some videos. I've been keeping a careful eye on this thread....

    Hello

Thanks for all the information. I read most of it but could not really found out solution to the site that I am trying to download flash demo files

    Here is the link..

    http://www.oracle.com/technology/ob...pplicationsWorkshop.htm?_template=/ocom/print

then on this page there are some demos.. the links are javascript.

if you search for sentence like this...

"If you would like to see a demonstration of the following tasks, click here."

    in this..
    "Here" is the hyper link

I tried to follow the steps ..

At the top pane before Embed is says

    BusinessComponents.swf

and in the address also it is same.

Please guide me how can I save these demos.

    Regards
    Sanjeev

    I'll give you the no-nonsense way;

Open the window with the video, right click, choose "save page as..."
save the page to your sesktop, then navigate there and open the folder "BusinessComponents_viewlet_swf_files". The file you're looking for is "BusinessComponents.swf", and it will be in this folder. Open with firefox or flash player.

    Thanks for the reply.

I tried that and it does work fine.

Meanwhile after I posted the question yesterday I was still trying and also found another way.

    The flahgot extension of firefox
creates a new menu ( right-click )"Build gallery" on the popped up swf page

When clicked on that it shows a dialog box where it shows all available media files (I think). when clicked OK it creates another window with links to media files.

    So I get this link.

    http://www.oracle.com/technology/ob...nessComponents.viewlet/BusinessComponents.swf

    which I can save by Right-Click -> save_as

    Regards
    Sanjeev

    CiDaemon -

How do you download from Daum? I managed to get the link for the video I want but I believe there would be other videos I want to download.

    http://flvs.daum.net/flvPlayer.swf?vid=sQi9D5Wxmco$

Or.. if you don't want to explain, that's okay, too. It's just I don't wanna have to come to you all the time when I need a video from Daum. ;)

I know that a guide would be more helpful, but it's really still trial and error methods with Daum at this point; they work quickly, but it's a real pain and difficult to follow. Once I get a better understanding of what exactly works, I'll post it here. All I can tell you is that it involves xml files and the cache viewer.... because from then on it's literally trial and error.

im in a bit of a spot.. ok a lot of trbl n pressure..

i have access to this study material site that i paid to.. now the problem is some parts of the material is just plain swf files n can be easily dowloaded n just have power point presentaions like format with some control of chapters at on teh left side.
now these are the small 1mb files..

Problem happens with the 160mb plus files which also have an audio lecture going on per chapter. As in, there is the powerpoint like slides with text..n chapters to jump to on the left.. and for every chapter an audio lecture plays.. n at the bottom there is a progress bar which is controlable and a volume bar.

unfortunately, i cannot save this and its loading in a 2 pronged approach..

1st a small 173 kb .swf controller file loads,
2nd it slowy then starts streaming (screencasting, whatever that is) the 160mb book.flv file

i was facing probs with the mozilla browser for the 1st time as i had to repeatedly keep increaseing the cache size n still it wasnt ever going to 100%loading.. (well it got progressively closer as i kept increasing the cache).

So i just loaded it on iexplorer (on a 256kbps conection it took around 1.5 hour i think :O) and then from the internet options, view files folder.. located the 173 kb swf controller file and the 160 mb screencast file called book.flv

now for the life of me.. i cannot make the flv thingy run on any flv player. a certain geovid flash player did run just the audio with no image or control.

HOw do i combine the two n make the presentaion as it appears on the site when im offline and am not close to a internet connection.

i spent the whole day trying n trying and now wondering if i would have been better off studying. :|

but i cannot have the net all the time so need to save it on the laptop.

ok i have around 4 more days of net access after which i wont.So need to either study so much (impossible needs 20 days) in 4 days.. or figure out how to save on the disk.

too much pressure.. deadline coming up in 20 days.exam. :O

any idea why there are 2 files.. swf n flv?
    how what where why...

cannot give teh site cause it requires password :(

Okay I've got one that might be solveable. Looking to get Afro Samurai off spiketv.com. The link is
    http://www.spiketv.com/mods/afro/player/index.jhtml
which points to the swf AfroSamuraiPlayer.swf which is a swf with an embeded video. The swf contains a link to
    http://www.spiketv.com/mods/afro/player/asGetStream.jhtml
    which has <streamname>http://flash.vitalstream.com/flashgen.cgi?sname=shows/afro_samurai/ep2/AfroSamurai_Ep2_720&aname=spiketv_vitalstream_com/_definst_</streamname>
I can't figure out the sname or aname combo to find it off vitalstream.com. Any thoughts?

I'm glad you like doing this because this one has been driving me crazy. Here's the link:
    http://link.brightcove.com/services/link/bcpid164936275/bclid253595201/bctid263783204
I tried to do it myself, but I keep failing. I downloaded federated.swf and opened it in a hex editor, but I couldn't find anything .swf in the ASCII. I'm also trying to get this video:
    http://link.brightcove.com/services/link/bcpid164936275/bclid253595201/bctid263793651
That Brightcove place is a tough nut to crack. Thanks for your help.

    Hi there,

I was hoping you could help with the following .swf file. I tried all your solutions thus far but am still unable to download the following video at this site:

    http://www.votelamb.com.au/

I am after the high quality version if possible.

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    K

There's a lot of security setup in that swf. I'm looking at frame 20 code and it looks like there's a call back to check the requesting server so I don't think you can do anything but screen capture.
Okay little more hunting turned up this, http://brightcove.vo.llnwd.net/o2/u...01&playerId=164936275&playerTag=&affiliateId=
Note the unsecured bit in the link, they do check where the source request is coming from. Screencap it is.

http://211.39.136.167/daumblog/1001/86/2372186.flv is what you're looking for.
Couldn't how to get to that link.

Easy one, just read the docs in previous pages. In say firefox load it and go to Tools > Page Info > Media tab. You'll see the swf file to download.

    Zeigy
Brightcove protects their media. No way to get other than screencap.

    What's my secret?
Replay AV for detecting streams and links to them. Replay Screencast for capturing protected streams to wmv.

    Thanks adriftr

But here's my problem. I downloaded the .swf previously but it can only be viewed if you have an internet connection.

How do I save it and view it from my hdd when I am not connected to the internet?

Is there a way to get the actual .flv (I presume) file?
