    Alfredous,
When using DCC, have you got the IP addresses for the PC and Dreambox correct? They should both look something like 192.168.1.x . As long as the first digits are the same, then they are on the same network and you've got a LAN. The last digits ("x" in above) don't matter as long as they're different from each other and between 1 and 254. Find out what your PC IP address is (something like 192.168.1.103) and then set the dreambox IP to, for example, 192.168.1.2 using the setup->communications option in the menu. Then input these to DCC & make sure you've selected the right connection option in DCC i.e direct crossover. The login is "root" and the password "dreambox". And whatever you do, when you connect to it don't "flash update" the image using DCC like I did. That's bad. You'll need to use the Telnet function to tell the box to flash itself once you've copied Chris's working image via FTP into the var->tmp folder. There's a "software update" function in the dreambox menu which I think does this too, but I'm not sure since I didn't use it.

The alternative is using Dreamup and a serial null modem cable. Used both methods myself and found the Dreamup/null modem cable method to be far easier to do.

I got mine working after a bit of a battle last night. The funny thing is that the standard N*L box, which I pay for, does not seem to work any longer :). Some of the channels freeze a bit. How can I sort that out?

Do you guys pay for N*L digital value package or any package at all? I ask this because I never took off my digital tv package from them. Now I wonder if there is any point in me paying this.

    The image suppied works.
Read the previous posts, most people come back with appologies...
    the image works.
If it does not then it`s you or your area, your signal or whatever.
I know it`s a pain.. this thread (a very valuable one) is now 60 pages long but ALL the answers are here.

So don`t be surprised if you question is not responded to.

BTW gcscott, not scott or whatever name you can`t get right but Chris has helped enough via pm so give him a rest... read the thread.

    Hi Guys & Chris

I was wondering whether you could help me with a problem with my DreamBox 500C.

When i try to upload an image, the box connects properly through the null modem cable.

However after the upload DreamUp say "ERROR resetting lock-bits!!

It then says "calculating CRC32 on STB"

I don't know what this means?

    Is the box faulty?

    How do i fix it?

    Thanks Guys

Not trying to be smart, but you dont say what image you flashed it with, and more to the point, ALL the info you need is all within this thread.
Perhaps if you spend a little time with the "forum search" you'll find all the answers you need ??
