Check the signal strength on the channels. You should be getting around 95 and 48. If this is a lot lower then you will need a signal booster.

If the signal drops below 90 it will give you problems.

i think it is a signal problem you have as you cannot view FTA Channels.

When you go to a channel you will see the signal strenth in the info bar.

    SNR etc.

    Check these.

The signal should sit over 90

@ GAVINT . make sure you are using the correct com port with dreamup. check the com port in device manager.

Does anyone with chor^s kabel notice that playb^y is not working properly with gemini. I tried loads of different gemini versions but still have same problem. when i put the channel on it stops after a few seconds and freezes. it starts up then again but constantly breaks up. all other channels on the transponder(426) are fine. I tried loads of different evocams and keys, but no luck. the strange thing is all other images ,pli, dw etc work fine. can anyone else on chor^s using gemini see if they have the same problem?

start-control panel-system-hardware tab-device manager. you should see ports (com and lpt). select this and you should see what com port you are using. by the way are you using a laptop/pc with a usb to serial adapter, as you will need correct drivers installed.

Your pc will probably have 2 serial(comm ports)
Keep "use network" unticked then try to connect.
If this fails try changing the comm port with the "Communications Port" down arrow to "Communications Port (Comm 2)"

If this fails then chances are the null modem cable is not the correct one....read the previous posts.

    Good luck

    Glad you got there.

    To repeat...
Some pins are transposed and some are not connected.
When using DreamUp make sure you use a cable wired for the DreamBox.

Unfortunately the null modem cable (rs232) can be wired different ways for differing applications http://www.lammertbies.nl/comm/info/RS-232_null_modem.html

Here`s how I believe it should be wired ...
    Pin 1 - Not Connected
Pin 2 - Goes to Pin 3 on the other end
    Pin 3 - Goes to Pin 2
    Pin 4 - Goes to Pin 6
    Pin 5 - Goes to Pin 5
    Pin 6 - Goes to Pin 4
    Pin 7 - Goes to Pin 8
    Pin 8 - Goes to Pin 7
    Pin 9 - Not Connected

    Ebay £3...
