I've downloaded the new nagra file but can't seem to get it installed on my box, I've always used a null modem cable before, but since my old pc died i don't have a null cable port, tried using an ethernet cable via my router to connect to the DCC but it comes up with this messege "Error 10057 in function Send Socket is not connected", where am I going wrong here people?

Yeah but don't I need to get it connected with my router before I can use FTP to transfer the file to my dreambox?

 

Hey-----CG when you have sorted out the new image please let us all know. I was so grateful to you when you gave the world the new image. I think back in April /May earlier this year. No one on this planet makes it easier to do than you. You should rename yourself. Neo springs to mind. Dave. Come on mucker, make the masses happy. Only you know how to do it

look chaps, there are loads of helpfull people on here, but the change in keyroll yesterday has messed things up a bit.

I've sorted my box by connecting it over FTP and replacing one of the rom files (and deleting two others).

I've seen a few pages back that someone has put-up a new image file for dreamup via null-modem but haven't used it so can't comment on it.

FTP GUIDE (This worked for me, I'm no computer guru )
Plug a network cable in between your router and the dreambox
Using romote control go to menu/setup/expert setup/communications setup
Give your box an IP of 192.168.2.3 DHCP ON
Netmask 255.255.255.0
LAN
ENABLE NETWORK ON PORT 80
SAVE
Download FileZilla client
http://filezilla-project.org/
In host box put in 192.168.2.3
User root Pass dreambox NO PORT NEEDED

Filezilla should now be connected to your dreambox

Go to the var/keys directory

Delete the two files nagrarom10.bin and nagrarom11.bin (NOT nagraram !)
And replace nagrarom7.bin with the new one (you can drag and drop using filezilla)

NEW rom7 here ( in Dbox dreambox fix )

After this is done re-boot the box and sit on sky sports for a couple of mins untill evocamd finds the new keys

If FTPing to your box is outa your skill zone... either use the image mentioned here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/65/647188#4395033
or wait for someone to confirm it is working.

the 500S is the satellite version.

 

Many thanks drawflex, followed your instructions and worked a treat except my dreambox ip was different to the one you've given. Fingers crossed this will last for a while. Thanks a lot again for taking time to write a turorial for techno noobs like us )

Hi Chris, May I ask you a question please?
I am about to flash a new box for my Father.
Would I be as well to flash the older image you gave me as it still works fine here in Dublin, or am I better off using your new image?
Thanks for all your work. If it wasn't for you & some of the other experts on here there would be a lot of dead boxes around.

 

Flash it with the new image as the reason the boxes are still working is the keys havent rolled in your area yet.

But when they do the image previous will be of no use.
