uppped the last image fron cgscott scanned, on sky sports 1, info button, ok on evo restart and nothing!! left it on the channel for 10 mins and nowt.
also connected a ethernet cable from latop into back of dbox, openened filezilla, put in the dbox ip and username/password etc but could not connect to server, just not having any luck does having a wireless router make any difference? thought i could just connect direct to the dbox via a ethernet to my lato??
i have dream uppped the null modem image and scanned for my area and then pressed info and got the evocam restarted but nothing.. why not also, with the ftp, i have plugged an ethernet from my laptop into the dbox and input the dbox ip address into filezilla and i get connection timed out. total nightmare, image and ftp not working
if you connect directly from cable box to pc/laptop you need a cross over network cable if connecting to the cable box via a router/wireless router you need a normal ethernet cable I suggest before people delve into networking and if you have never done any kind of networking before, you may want to read up on it to get a idea on the concept of networking
good point. so of i plug the dbox into the main and plau an ethernet into the back of the dbox and then into my netgear wireless router, which has 3 empty ports i can use... do i need to change the ip address on the dbox first to match my default gatewaty?
jsut been told by a senior member of antoher forum that both cable are one and the same and will do the job??????
what a cross over cable and a standard network cable are the same, he is bullshitting you here on a standard network cable all pin connection rom one end to other end go to each other where as on a cross over cable the recieve pin on one end goes to the transmit on the other end and vice versa to clarify how are you connecting the cable box - to your wireless router ?
box plugged into the main, and standard ethernet cable from the socket in the back of the dbox into one the free sockets in the back of the wireless router.
anyway, thanks once again... zappy you have been a most enlightening fourmite this evening. not sure how i could have managed without your assistance. cheers and have a good evening.
