So I download Nightmare (a Dreamcast Emulator for the PC) and I'm pretty excited about it. I loved my Dreamcast, but sadly it broke several months ago. I have quite a few games and haven't yet finished Skies of Arcadia so I was impatient to start playing. Well, Nightmare only accepts ROMs. (.gre files) No big deal I thought they probably included a ripper. No Ripper. No big deal I thought, Google will turn up something. Nothing. Well, actually, something, just nothing free. It seems some [expletive] is trying to cash in on the deal. He has a ripper, "The Rom Ripper" he calls it. But "much effort was put forth to make this tool great so a $15 dollar fee is required to download." Well, 15 bucks doesn't seem that bad but... A) I'm 15 years old and don't have the cash to send him. And more importantly... B) Who the hell does this guy think he is? Ever heard of open-source? Or Freeware you greedy codercrapweasel? So here's the point. Is there a FREE .gre ripper? Because even if I had the money this guys a prick and isn't seeing a dime from me anytime soon. Thanks, DarkATi
ROM Ripper - the ultimate tool for Dreamcast Ripping? What is the ROM ripper? It is a utility that will (supposedly) allow you to rip roms off your Dreamcast CD's. Now I'm not sure if purchasing or even making this software is illegal, and after hearing rumors from other users on the net that had been ripped off, or they had been sent a virus instead, I decided to look into this myself. Now, I don't know why people wouldn't report this site(s) to the proper authorities. I am guessing it wasn't reported due to embarrassment on the purchasers part, and the fact that the software maybe deemed illegal. But I'm not entirely sure on this. As of October 8th 2001... I wrote to his ISP to see if they could get me some information on this guy in order to track him down. Seeing as he stole $15 (and probably MUCH more), and has not sent me my product, or returned my money. I have not received a response from his ISP as of this date. Yea, iv got Nightmare too. I just downloaded it. What i wanna know is if anyone makes a free ripper. Or if theres some way to get around getting a ripper, like opening the cd to look at the files and just copying them or sumthing like that. I agree, that 15 bucks is bullshit. Nobody sends cash by mail, thats way too risky. Bein a serious Ebayer my self, iv gotten reamed a coupple o times by ppl who wanted cash. Id pay if they had a Pay Pall transaction though, im so desprate at the moment lol.
Gregs got a diff site, but i dunno if its any better, since i havent seen the Defunct one. On this site hes got a link to download the ripper directly from him, but it dosent work, it says "file not available" or sum crap like that. So they ripped you off? Thats bull, I was going to send them money but then I didn't know if the site was legit or not. So did anyone here get the romripper? I have nightmare and the screen shots look pretty cool but I need something to rip games.
