i was trying to create a movie from an Avi file and burn it to a Verbatim DL disc when i heard some bizarre grinding sounds coming from my burner just as the burn process started (i am trying to burn everything on DL discs now in order to avoid compression). my computer is less than a month old so this is very unusual. i have burned DVD+R discs fine but for whatever reason i received this error when trying out DL. could anyone please interpret this log file for me? i have tried to locate only where the error occured towards the bottom as opposed to pasting the whole thing.

    Hi jetsetter
Take the burn speed down to 4x on these.
8x dual layer is newer and mightbe part of the problem if your drive doesn't have the media codes for it in the firmware.
So see if there is a later version.

If the burner came w/ the pc check the manufacturers site or you can try the Tosibha/Samsung site.

    File 'Drivers\CDRALW2K.SYS
Roxio & Nero don't always play well so you can uninstall Roxio and run the zap tool.

Another program that's great for dual layer is ImgBurn.

You could set Nero to burn to the image recorder then burn the .nrg file w/ ImgBurn.
