can any1 help me find the drivers for this pc: acer aspire m3610 -ae7z desktop pc on the acer webite they only have 3610 pls help cos the pc came with vista and i want to go back to xp desperatley cheers
Acer won't give you the drivers for Vista, unfortunately. If you buy a PC with Vista, the XP drivers don't usually exist, for the simple reason that the PC was only ever built to run vista. best thing you can do is look up all the components it uses and go to the relevant manufacturer's website.
The manufacturer's website does not really help. I have investigated which chipsets are used by the Acer M3610 and finally figured out how to make it run under XP: If you want to use a DSL Internet Connection, you need to install the Ethernet Driver in yk51x86_v10.53.2.3.zip from http://www.marvell.com/drivers/driverDisplay.do?dId=103&pId=3 If you want to install the audio driver, proceed as follows: 1. In Windows XP Device Manager remove the PCI devices marked with the yellow questionmark. 2. Download and install one of the Catalyst drivers from http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx?p=xp/radeonx-xp (This is actually a graphics driver, but also required to squeeze sound out of the box) 3. Download and install the Realtek High Definition Audio Codecs from http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads...=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false If during the installation the automated Hardware Recognition pops up, have the updates installed through the Internet. This will happen several times, sometimes without success, accordingly. Nevertheless after a reboot you should be able to enjoy the sound capatibilities. 5. If it does not work, try this: Download ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/desktop/aspire_m3100/driver/ATI.zip unzip the file, goto the contained SBDRV directory and execute the Setup program in there. (The SBDRV directory is the only one needed in this big download, but I don't know another location than this ATI.zip) Again, let the Hardware Recognition have it's job done, if required. After a reboot it should work. Don't care if the Device Manager still shows devices will yellow questionmarks. Try if you can hear the sound anyway. Bye, bye Vista !
