on ide1, is the master drive on the middle connector or the end connector? on ide2, is the slave drive on the middle connector & the master on the end connector??
It sounds like your system got loaded on your D drive. Try installing the D drive only in the master position on IDE 1 and see if it boots. You did have a working PC before you changed things didn't you?? Your system files have to be somewhere. Jerry
[bold]hallelujah!!![/bold]i fixed it!!!!! it was the damn ide cables! one problem though when it boots it says disk boot error somthing about an ethernet controller.
at the bottom of the screen of the bios it tells you how to change things as bioses are different in boards & versions of bioses.
its an old motherboard plus heres the problem: For realtek fast ethernet comtroller 2.11 PXE-E61:Media Test Failure check cable PXE-MQF:Exiting PXE Intel UNDI PXE-2-0 Copyright 1997-2000 For realtek fast ethernet comtroller 2.11 PXE-E61:Media Test Failure check cable PXE-MQF:Exiting PXE DISK BOOT FAILURE INSERT SYSTEM BOOT DISK AND PRESS ENTER i put in the win xp disk and it says hd not found
take a look in the bios under advanced bios features in bootup sequence to see if netcard is there & disable it.
