I can not for the life of me get this burner to burn dvds at 4x. I can select the function and watch the calculated speed and, at the most, it will hit 2.1 or 1.9.

What is the deal with the quality of the burns? Jesus. When i burn at 2x it can see physical faults on the disc.

Can anyone provide me with reasons for this?

your drive is having problems burning at 2x and you want to burn at 4x...

As my rabbi would say, "Oy Gevalt!"

Either you have a faulty drive or you're doing something wrong.

What media are you using? Cheap = cheap results.
What physical faults are you seeing on the burned surface?
    What Software are you using?

Simple stuff that you could have included to help folk pinpoint your prob.

    Yeeesh.
Get with the program (scuz the pun).

I have a Pioneer A05 dvd-r burner. I have had it for about a year. I installed it, everything was working fine and now all of a sudden it's not in my comupter folder. I uninstalled and installed it. I have updated it. I have tried everything. Does anyone have any ideas?
