I keep getting error messages when I try to burn a dual layer dvd. The drive plays all media fine and burns all single layer media fine. The error messages only come after the layer jump. Nero support says it's either the media I'm using or a problem with the hardware, HP support says it's either the media or the software. I have a hard time believing it's the media (memorex dvd+r dl) because the first half of the 50 pack I bought had no problems at all and now in the second half none of them work. I the past I just uninstalled nero and reinstalled and it would work, now it is not. I have tried a clean install of nero. I have tried nero 7.2 as well as 7.0. My firmware should be up to date. And I have tried to install Force ASPI 1.7 just in case. I have not tried different media yet. I was hoping to get your thoughts. Thanks. If the 840 is an internal IDE drive, you don't have the DMA set to on for it. Somewhere on this forum there is a how-to about turning it on. They will also probably tell you to try a different type medium.
When I go to device manager DMA is set to auto, and when I run Nero info tool it also says DMA is on.
