well they say all must rest and be joyous(i know thats not how ya spell it but you know what i mean) so in some eyes diving is restfull and joyous...lol not makeing fun of any religon's beliefs either. been to the big haul Bin 3 times this week empty every time.. think they caught on to me or i got all the cases they have to hand out..lol happy easter everyone
cincyrob- Yes I suppose so ? & I would think even though it is something You enjoy it Could be considered work and therefore a forbidden activity under those religous context? But not being well versed ( Pun unintended !!!) in comparative Theology ! I would'nt take what I say on this as Gospel law ! well ive been to the dive again, and let me tell all my diving friends there should be a law against me getting so many cases..lol i went monday night/tuesday morning 1am. and got 140 of some pea green x-box cases. whats so funny about it i got there right before the garbage man got there. i was in the dunpster when he pulled up. he got out to open the gates and seen me and asked what the hell i was doing.... so i told him. then asked if i could have a few minutes to get the rest of the case... he said sure as long as he could have some... i said sure as long as ya dont dump me with the rest of the trash..lol so i gave him about 30 of them and i got 140 and i know i left 20 or so in the dumpster.... another good haul.. going back tonight to see if they tossed any movie cases seeing it is release day(movie releases on tuesday dumpster release day on wed.)lol
So were they "BOOGER" green or XBOX green?? lol. Hope you didn't get any "BOOGERS" on yourself. NICE haul buddy. BEt you were tripping out when that garbage truck drove up. ROFL. At least the guy was nice enough to let you do your thing and only take a few in return. ....gm
my school says that going in the dumpster is illegal because of some privacy law were you cant go into public or private garbage. its not like a steal info and passwords, i wipe the hd's =( i never found a dvd case yet >=(
21Q- I'm no lawyer But My understanding is that you have no expectation of privacy in your garbage ! - In other words if you put your trash out on the curb ! The police or any agency of the goverment that is investigating you does not need a Search warrant to search or possibly size your Trash ! Hpw this wou;d apply to dumpster diving should be similar ! if they were really worried about privacy they would'nt be throwing data/ HDD or Paper Hardcopy of anything useful away ! - They Could have issues on tresspassing though ! If you are in that much communication with them though! Why not offer your services like this ! Tell them you'll show them how to remove the data from the HDD's & offer to come pick the Computers up if they'll call you ? Or Just bribe the Janitor or whoever actaually puts them in the dumpster? LOL!
CincyRob- You should've asked your New buddy the Schedule for the local Blockbuster Dumpsters ! Then you could get there early and clean Up LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
its been a bad week for that BB (my fav) i went lastnight about 11:30 i get there and a cop is in the parking lot with his lights a flashing.. he had a car pulled over giveing them a ticket i drove around the block and he was just setting there so i decided i would just roll on home..lol
Rob, the cop in question reads this bulletin board and decided to grab some cases himself, just using his lights and authority to stake out his territory. Next time, just post how you found out how a local doughnut shop leaves leftovers on the back loading dock at a certain time for the hungry homeless people to snack on. Should draw him away long enough for you to dive in and get you some.

nice pic BT69. ya might wanna check out mine hav added to the list.. i went to bestbuy yesterday looking to see what kinda HDD they had on sale. didnt see much. for some reason i decided to go around back and check out there dumpster.......wasnt much of anything in there other than some cardboard boxes packageing and such. i moved around some of the boxes and seen a old tower in there.. so i realed it in and took it home..once i got home i opend it up there was 2 hard drives in it a dvd-rom drive and 1 stick of 256 mem. one of the hard drives was a 20gb WD and the other was a 80gb WD. got to messing with them the 20gb was shot but the 80gb worked and even had windows XP Pro on it... guess the geek squad tossed it out. guess they didnt realize the 80gb hdd worked..lol
Rob, you might want to erase all of the info on that disk before you get too comfy with it, who knows what sort of pictures are on it, or anything which might get you in trouble with the feds, (kiddie porn, virus stuff, etc) better safe than sorry. Go to western digital's web page and download the diagnostics programs, then format and erase the disk a couple of times to eliminate everything from it before you use it. just a cautionary tale of advice.
@BlivetNC oh i have done that allready. i reformated it 3 times now from what i seen it only had windows Xp on it and a few empty folders.out of the 80gb it was only useing 14gb. thats about what the OS takes up looks like who did have it cleaned it out first. but i did reformat it and put nortons and AD-Ware 6 on it to scan it real good.i have it in my older tower now. i took the 100gb Seagate back out of it and stuck it back in my main system. now have the 250 adn 100 gb seagates in it
cincyrob, what did the 20gig do to come up bad? the 256meg of ram, is it sdram or ddr? keep it as might come of use. what cpu was on the motherboard? was the psu an atx?
@ddp the mem was kigngston 256sdr pc133 which i can use on my older tower. i have a empty slot for it. the motherboard is a AZE11A. looks like my older motherboard except it is smaller only has 3 pci slot mine has 5. it looks older than mine it also only has 2 slots for memeory, mine has 3.. it does have a 300w psu mine is only 250w. the 20gb hdd when i put it in my system now it would even show it as being hooked up. i went to device manager and only showed my 250gb not the 20gb... so to be honest im only assumeing its bad. i havent done anything else wtih it.
Went and made a dumpster check at my regular BB was able to get 44 prebagged + trash are'nt they Nice There were More But I did'nt want to get stuck once I got in the dumpster Will have to bring My Milk Crates Next Time ! Oh well Not a major haul But not bad for a few minutes of work Later gang!!!!!!!!!!!Ciao!
