dvd-a

    I'm pretty new to all this so please be gentle with me if this is a really silly question.....can i convert my mp3 files into dvd-a to get better sound. Or can i take tracks off audio cd and convert them into dvd-a?

    yes, you can put your mp3 files on a dvd, but unless you have an audio player that plays audio dvds (dvd players do, but not the typical portable/car disc player), but it won't improve the sound quality any.

    The most important thing here is "garbage in - garbage out", if you start with inferior quality mp3 you can't expect to get anything resembling DVD-A quality.

    And, regarding the previous answer, "Audio DVD" is NOT the same as DVD-A. Putting mp3 files on a dvd does NOT magically improve the sound quality, even if you "have an audio player that plays audio dvds"...

    However, you CAN put audio CD tracks on a DVD-A. They stil won't sound any better than before, but a DVD-A (which is NOT an Audio DVD) can hold 6-7 CDs. But for playing that DVD-A, you need a DVD-Audio capable player - NOT a standard DVD player.
